Mission Statement
The sole purpose of the BYU Management Consulting Club is to help BYU
students obtain jobs in the consulting industry.
All aspects of the club fall under this single purpose and serve as appendages to this goal.
The work of the MCC is divided into three separate but interrelated areas to accomplish this goal; 1) Recruiting new club members, 2) Teaching and preparing club members for careers in consulting, and 3) Increasing the number of consulting firms that recruit at BYU.
Recruiting New Members
The MCC focuses on getting underclassmen to join the club. If students join the MCC with sufficient time to prepare, the MCC will be better able to help them land consulting careers. Also, the stability achieved in consistently replenishing membership is vital to developing a strong reputation for the MCC among the consulting firms.
Teaching and Preparing Members for Careers
The MCC’s preparation can be grouped into three major areas: 1) Application Preparation, 2) Interview Preparation, and 3) Networking. Application Preparation involves identifying all potential career opportunities and instructing on resumes and cover letters techniques. Interview Preparation addresses trainings on case interviews and detailed insights on each firms interview process and case questions. Networking involves events with current and former consultants in both training and casual settings.
Increasing Consulting Firms that Recruit at BYU
The MCC is teaming with the Strategy Department to increase the number of consulting firms that recruit at BYU. Strategy Department Faculty have been assigned as relationship managers with several consulting firms and will work to influence those firms to recruit more actively at BYU. The MCC participates in resume drops, networking with consulting alumni, and spreading BYU’s reputation to influence new firms to recruit at BYU. As more students join the MCC, they will be better prepared for the application and interview process and the work in the consulting industry. As BYU increases the number of prepared students, the consulting firms will take notice and desire to hire more students.
As more students are hired, they will be able to better influence their firms to recruit (or recruit more heavily) at BYU. As the reputation of BYU students grows in the consulting industry, new firms will be attracted to hire BYU students.
